Ants are harmless insects, but they are without a doubt annoying, especially when they attack your food. It may often feel like these teeny tiny ants are your housemates seeing how hard it is to get rid of them – once they are in, they arrive in troups & never leave. The key to taking care of your ant problem is to capture the Queen Ant or else her colony will continue to invade. This is one of the main reasons why it’s so tricky to get rid of them in the first place.
Many of us are uncomfortable using pesticides inside our home, which is fair enough – these products contain toxic chemicals that could be harmful to you and your household. We always talk about using natural products so are you surprised that you can actually tackle these ants with products in your pantry? Let’s find out about our DIY options…
Baking Soda & Powdered Sugar
Ants are very much attracted to sugar as you know. Mix powdered sugar, baking soda, and water together and leave it out to bait and trap.
Soap Oil Spray
Combine water, oil, and soap for another bait & trap method – you can spray this directly on the ants or on your counter tops. Ants are attracted to oil, but soap can kill them.
Boric Acid
Now if you want something stronger and don’t have kids or pets around, you may want to consider mixing boric acid and powdered sugar. Boric acid is harmful if ingested hence why you’d want to keep it away from little ones. However, it’s power does kill the ants while the sugar attracts them.
These options do take time so remember to be patient and persistent. The more you set these traps, the more likely your ants will disappear. Good luck!
